Holistic Wellness Tips:
Below are some of my favorite practices on how to regulate my system when I am feeling off.
Stressed- Ashwaganda, breath control, lavender
Anxious- journal, meditate, movement
Sore- epsom salt bath, deep stretch, foam roll
Tired- fresh air, sunlight (vitamin D), nap
In a rut- relax, slow down, fill your cup up
I have noticed that it’s better to help your body and mind out when they need a litte extra support rather than completely ignoring them and feeling worse.
The hard days and the painful moments are going to come so learning how to navigate them is key to our well-being. Figure out what works best for your body when it’s in that state.
I personally have a bottle of ashwaganda gummies to calm my system when it feels on high alert. I always have lavender essential oil on my night stand or in the diffuser. I use the app, Insight Timer, for all things breath work and meditation. I personally love the whole foods brand (365) muscle soak epsom salt and I sit in the bath for about 20-30 mins when my body is sore. I also invested in a theragun (massage gun) to help loosen up tight muscles. I love a good walk in the sun when I am feeling down or tired, that vitamin D really boosts things up for me. When I feel like I am in a rut that I just can’t shake, I realize it’s because I haven’t done anything to fill my cup up in awhile, so I go out and do something fun and adventurous to take my mind off things and to just be in the moment.
Finding what works for you is key because what works for me and for someone else might not have the same effect for you! This takes trying different options and seeing how your body/mind responds to it. I think it’s so easy for us to get frustrated when we feel off (comparison doesn’t help with that) so I try to get off social media too during these times or else I find myself endlessly scrolling in a hole of self pitty…and we don’t want that! It’s normal to have hard days, it’s part of being a human, so remember to have grace and patience for yourself and your body. Oftentimes all these emotions are trying to tell us something, so it’s also important to listen and figure out what that is so you can navigate and give your body what it needs.
I hope these tips help!
